More Honduran Adventures!

Posting more random pictures  of my adventures in Honduras while serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

But first, and more important, is a message about our Savior, Jesus Christ and His gospel.

What does it mean to be more Christ-like?
"No other single influence has had so great an impact on this earth as the life of Jesus the Christ.  We cannot conceive of our lives without his teachings.  Without him we would be lost in a mirage of beliefs and worships, born in fear and darkness where the sensual and materialistic hold sway.  We are far short of the goal he has set for us, but we must never lose sight of it; nor must we forget that our great climb toward the light, toward perfection, would not be possible except for his teachings, his life, his death, and his resurrection."
"...We must learn and learn again that only through accepting and living the gospel of love as taught by the Master and only through doing his will can we break the bonds of ignorance and doubt that bind us.  We must learn this simple glorious truth so that we can experience the sweet joys of the spirit now and eternally.  We must lose ourselves in doing his will.  We must place him first in our lives."    (Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson)

Hola from Honduras!

And another great week in Honduras has flown by .....
This week has been very good, and my companion and I have been really busy.  We usually have about 10 or so referrals from members and investigators, but this week we have been busy with 21.  So again, tons of work to do and lots of lessons to teach.
Our recently baptized members are doing great, and it is exciting to visit with them and see how they want to help further the work. I love these families! As they continue to learn about the restoration of the gospel, and recognize and understand the Spirit, it is amazing to see blessings come into their lives.
We are working with several other "pilas" investigators that are progressing towards baptism. They also are working hard to recognize the guidance of the Spirit and make changes in their lives.
As President James E. Faust said,
"The gift of the Holy Ghost comes after one repents and becomes worthy ... the Holy Ghost bears witness of the truth and impresses upon the soul the reality of God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ so deeply that no earthly power or authority can separate him from the knowledge."
And as missionaries, that is our stewardship.  To find these elect people that are ready to hear the message of The Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Here are some random pictures from over the last several months ........ We also have a lot of fun as missionaries.
 A wonderful mother and grandmother!
 One of my favorite families!
 P-Day at the Beach
 My current zone!
Making a million tamales for a fund raiser! I know how now!
Water fight!  He couldn't resist getting me soaked!
P- Day Volleyball at the Beach
A group from the States came to our ward - "Smiles for Central America".  They came to do dental work for future missionaries. I was asked to translate for some of them.  They also brought princess dresses for the little girls, and super-hero costumes for the little boys.  It was great fun!

Fun P-Day with President and Sister Klein.

Wow! What a wonderful week!

Another week on my mission here in Honduras has flown by!  It truly amazes me and my companion how fast the weeks are going by.  We reach Friday and are always surprised the end of the week is already here.
But Saturday was a very special day with two marriages and several very special baptisms.  Can I say that we are both on cloud nine seeing the progress of these families we have come to love.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ and the blessings it brings into our lives are immeasurable.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to have met and helped these good people in their search for their Savior, Jesus Christ. May our Heavenly Father always guide them and bless them.

Our week has been full, so just a few other random pictures .....

Till next week.  Thought for the week  .......
"For prayer to work in our lives, the rules are simple.  We must ask to know what is true by praying to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ.  We must ask with a sincere heart, which means we must have an honest intent to do whatever God's answer requires of us.  And our real intent must spring from our faith in Jesus Christ."  (President Henry B. Eyring)

Elder Roberts is currently serving a two-year mission in the San Pedro Sula East Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Together, with his family, he desires to post some of the wonderful experiences he is having while working among the Honduran people. Elder Roberts writes home to us once a week, and from his writings, has requested that we share some of his experiences and also photos of the people and country he has come to love. "A mission is a wonderful, humbling, life-changing experience and needs to be shared!" So watch for upcoming posts!
