Leaving One Great Area!

Hello Family and Friends,
Yes, I got transferred.  I have to say that I was very sad to leave my area.  I have met some wonderful, humble people who I have loved very much. I also had a great companion.  I will never forget them. But I know I will learn to love and appreciate this new area as well.
So here are some pictures from the last week or two.
Have a great week.

Another Busy Week in Honduras, and a Visit From An Apostle

Hi Family and Friends
First of all, I want to say Happy Birthday Padre!  I hope you had an awesome birthday.  I want you to know how blessed I am to have you as my father.  Thank you for your love and support - always and in all things.

We had another really busy week.  On Saturday, we had our joint conference with the San Pedro Sula West Mission.  We are a big group!  It was a great conference and we had the opportunity to hear from one of the Lord's apostles, Elder Andersen.  One of the things he spoke and taught about is The Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  He taught us that this is so important, not only for our investigators, but also for us as missionaries and throughout our lives.  The Atonement will change hearts. Elder Andersen taught and discussed with us 2 Nephi 2:8.  This scripture reads....

Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.

We also had the opportunity to be taught by several other General Authorities, their wives,  and  President Klein.  The whole conference was great!

I also had the opportunity to sing with our zone for the conference.  There were 12 of us singing.
This is a pictures from Hermana Klein's blog. Thank you for sharing pictures of our sons Hermana Klein!  As moms, it is always fun to find a picture!
(Note from Elder Robert's Mom)

And I found Elder Shepherd at the conference.  We are from the same home town, and this is our first meeting since he arrived.

And Madre and Padre, it sounds like the Missionary Night in our home ward went great.  Glad you were able to share my experiences here in Honduras with the youth.

The Youth made a sign for each of the countries and states represented.  Honduras,
Brazil, Equador, Korea, Norway, Alabama, and Florida.

Madre teaching the youth about my experiences in Honduras.

Future missionaries.  But the two in the middle are my friends that just returned from Brazil.

We haven't heard about changes yet.  We should find out either today or tomorrow, but I will not let you know until Monday.   I have loved this area.  We have been working hard to prepare this area so that the next set of missionaries can work really efficiently right from the start.  We have made maps  and have planned some really good activities. We are also working to get the YM and YW more involved and working more with the missionaries. But I am excited wherever I go.  We can also take these plans to the next area as well.

I have learned a lot this week.  The mission is awesome.  I know the Lord is shaping me into the person he wants me to be.
Have a great week.

Visit from Elder Duncan

Hi Family,
This week has been really good - as always!  We had some really great experiences this week.  One is that Elder Duncan came and visited us.  Elder Duncan is the Area Presidency here in Centro America. His message to us was very inspirational.  As missionaries, we were taught a very powerful lesson that with faith, planning, goals, and action, each one of us can become better missionaries - better able to teach the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people here in Honduras. We all left the meeting with Elder Duncan  ready to work extra hard. Great, great meeting.

We have found some amazing new investigators this week, and continue to work with several others.  B is progressing and reading The Book of Mormon.
L told us she finds peace when she reads The Book of Mormon.  These two investigators are super pilas.  We also found a mother of two daughters that was really feeling lost in life.  When we first met with her, she was very discouraged through life's hardships and didn't understand her purpose and worth.  We were able to teach her about Christ and The Atonement, about this life, and why we all have challenges and struggles.  We have set another cita with her and are looking forward to teaching her further.

We have our conference with Elder Anderson on Saturday.  Wow!  We always look forward to these meetings.  We are super stoked!  The meeting is going to be packed with two  whole missions attending. Both the East and the West San Pedro Sula Missions.   But I think we may get a little closer seat.  We are singing in the choir!
Have a great week.

Starting to Get Super Hot Again!

Yes, Mom.  I need some new pants, a new white shirt, and some more socks! My pants have holes where my bag rubs against the back of my pants.  I have patched them about three times!  Surprisingly, no holes in the bottom of my shoes, but the toes of my shoes  are disappearing.  My other pair is good.
Lots of good things are happening here in the mission.  We will have a visit from two General Authorities in March.  These meetings are always great. One of the visits will be in a joint conference with the West and East missions.
E and her family are doing really well.  Her little girl has been sick this week, but we were able to give her a blessing and she is getting much better.  We have been able to share the video "The Restoration" with their family.  Her husband was touched by its message and what this means.  We enjoy meeting with and teaching this family. And tonight we have Family Home Evening with the O family. They are a great family.
We are working with several other families and individuals that are very interested in learning of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.  One of our young investigators was very excited to learn that through repentance and The Atonement of Jesus Christ, she can be forgiven of past transgressions. We could only smile to see how excited she was to learn of this hope of a new beginning.
For P-Day this week, we played kickball and ultimate frisbee.  It was super fun, but it is getting so hot again.  This week, we also had two returned missionaries visit that had served in this mission, and had come back to visit families and enjoy the area. It looked so fun, and I think they even went to Tela to go swimming. How fun is that!
So, all is well in Honduras. Except it is getting HOT! Have I already said that?!

God Knows what you need.
He wants you to pray about
what you need, and He wants you
to work for it.  But mostly
He wants you to believe
HE CAN AND WILL PROVIDE.

And the days and weeks in Honduras are flying by!

Happy Valentines Day to Everyone!

Wow, as usual this week has flown by.  We are doing great.  We are continuing to work with several families and are finding new people to work with every day.  As is a common challenge here in Honduras, we are working to get people married.  It is very expensive, and legal papers have to be obtained.  But, with faith, we can do this!
We had a great experience this week.  We were visiting with one of our families, and they had a guest at their home that we had not met before.  As we were visiting with her, she told us that she had previously had a boss that had been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He had simply explained to her of his beliefs and of the teaching of the Church.  She could see by his every-day actions that he lived by his beliefs.  We were able to challenge her to pray about our message to know of it truthfulness.  She answered us by saying "I already know it is true."  This she felt from the example of her boss and the way he lived his life following the Savior.
We all have the opportunity to be like this boss - to be an example of the Savior in our lives everyday.

"If the Lord can do GREAT THINGS with a single loaf, imagine what he can do with a single life".
                                                                                                     (From The Peter Potential)

The other night after a lesson, we were walking up the mountain to visit the last family of the night.  It had been a good day - nothing extreme, but we had worked hard all day.  I remember reaching the top of the hill and it was such a clear night.  I looked up at the stars.  I have always loved to watch the stars.  I was honestly just amazed at how beautiful it was. Clear and beautiful.  I had the biggest feeling of awe.  Of amazement honestly.  Of comfort.  Of assurety that God exists and that he cares for and loves each one of us.
Also, have you ever thought about what Christ was thinking when he was on this earth among his creations?  He was breathing the air He had created, hearing the birds chirping that He had created, helping and healing the very beings He had created.  Pretty amazing to think about.
As missionaries we think about and discuss some pretty amazing things!
Another great day in Honduras!

Great Missionaries and Friends!
